The 2016-2017 APS Calendar

Planning ahead for when kids are in and out of school in 2016-2017

The 2016-17 school calendar approved by the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education is as follows, according to APS spokesperson Johanna King:

STudents return to class on Thursday, Aug. 11;

School wraps up on Thursday, May 25;

Winter break stretches from Dec. 19, 2016 toJan. 3, 2017

Spring break is March 20-24, 2017.

Aug. 5 First day back for teachers, school staff
Aug. 11 First day of school
Sept. 5 Labor Day (schools and administrative offices closed)
Oct. 6 Fall break for students; professional development day for school staff (administrative offices open)
Oct. 7 Fall break (schools closed; administrative offices open)
Oct. 31-Nov. 1 Middle School student-led conferences
Nov. 8 Presidential Election Day (schools closed; administrative offices open)
Nov. 11 Veterans Day (schools closed; administrative offices open)
Nov. 21-22 Elementary School parent/teacher conferences
Nov. 23-25 Thanksgiving break (schools closed; administrative offices closed Nov. 24-25)
Dec. 19-Jan. 2 Winter break (schools closed; administrative offices closed Dec. 26-Jan. 2)
Jan. 3 Professional development day for school staff (no school for students)
Jan. 4 First day of second semester
Jan. 16 Martin Luther King Jr. Day (schools closed; administrative offices open)
Feb. 20 Presidents Day (schools and administrative offices closed)
Feb. 23-24 Middle and High School student-led conferences
March 9-10 Elementary School parent/teacher conferences
March 20-24 Spring break (schools closed; administrative offices open)
