Trump Protests Escalate

On Friday, protesters in Chicago forced the Republican front-runner to cancel a campaign rally there. And during a rally Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri, Trump called for protesters who disrupt his rallies to be arrested, and he accused supporters of Democrat Bernie Sanders of instigating the protests and disruptions.

Angry protesters continued to disrupt Donald Trump’s campaign rallies Monday.

The latest interruption came this afternoon at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C., as protests broke out as the Republican presidential hopeful discussed his plans to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border, ABC News reported.

Trump supporters booed the protesters and chanted to drown out the interruption with chants of “Build the wall, build the wall,” and “USA, USA!”

After another protest erupted, Trump told the audience, “Let him go. He’ll go home to mom, and she’ll be angry with him.”

“I’m going to ask that you arrest them,” Trump said to the police. “I’ll file whatever charges you want. If they want to do this . . . we’re going to go strongly for your arrests.”

The Chicago disruption appeared to be the largest. Fights broke out between Trump opponents and supporters in and around the rally at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After Trump arrived in Chicago, he met with law enforcement officials who informed him of the protests and their concerns for the safety of both his supporters and the protesters. Afterward, Trump canceled the event.
