City Ranks 44 out of 150
Summer has arrived. Are you planning a vacation away from home this year, or a staycation?
In a recent survey by the personal-finance website WalletHub, Albuquerque ranked 44 out of 150 in “Best Places for a Staycation”. It’s a decent ranking with not much room for argument.
The city received an impressive 34 in “Food & Entertainment”, a respectable 43.52 “Recreation” rank, and an 87 in “Rest & Relaxation.”
The only bewildering aspect of the recent survey are some of the cities ranked above Albuquerque. Like Cleveland, Ohio.
How is Cleveland, Ohio ranked above Albuquerque? Because it has the most swimming pools per capita? How is that of interest for people living minutes from Lake Erie? Trust me, the people of Cleveland, Ohio don’t want to stay. There just aren’t any better options around in the neighboring states.
To identify the best spots for staying local, WalletHub’s number-crunchers compared the 150 largest cities across 36 key indicators. The data ranges from movie and bowling costs to spas and wellness centers per capita to cost of house-cleaning services.
Still, it’s hard to believe that places like Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Madison, Wisconsin, could have more options for affordable entertainment and relaxation than Albuquerque.
