Container Store Opens July 8 In ABQ

Its First Location In New Mexico

The Container Store will have its “Grand Opening” on July 8, with 10 percent of opening weekend sales donated to the New Mexico BioPark Society.

The 18,000-square foot store at Coronado Center will feature thousands of multi-functional, innovative products to solve organizational challenges. The direct address is 6600 Menaul Blvd.

The store will offer more than 300 food storage solutions, 750 organized office products, 70 types of laundry hampers, 400 solutions to organize a traveler and 200 different sizes and colors of hangers. Products will be organized in signature lifestyle sections such as closet, kitchen, office, travel and laundry, to organize time-and space-starved customers.

The Container Store is the nation’s leading retailer of storage and organization products. The Albuquerque location will be the retailer’s 88th store nationwide and the first in New Mexico.

The Container Store’s Albuquerque location will add around 40 jobs to the community. For the past 18 years, the company has been named to Fortune Magazine’s list of 100 Best Companies to Work For®, largely due to their employee-first culture and commitment to open, transparent communication with employees nationwide.

The Container Store enjoys an unheard of 10 percent yearly turnover rate with its store employees. For comparison, the retail industry average turnover rate is at least 100 percent. The company pays its frontline salespeople at least double what they could make at another retailer.

Founded in 1978 by Kip Tindell and two other partners, The Container Store has grown to become a national retail powerhouse with 60 locations and revenues around $750 million.
