Scammers Claim To Represent Court Of Wills
Residents in Bernalillo County may be targeted by scammers over the phone trying to obtain information, claiming to be from the Bernalillo County Court of Wills, Estates and Probate.
A personal representative of an estate that had been filed with the court received a suspicious call from a person, saying that they work at the probate court, requesting information regarding the decedent’s social security number and information about assets of the estate.
Residents should hang up the phone immediately if they feel they are the target of a scam.
Residents should never provide personal information including their Social Security number, credit card or banking information to unsolicited callers.
The Bernalillo County Court of Wills, Estates and Probate will never call and ask for the type of above mentioned information and any information requested would need to be done so in writing.
