Discard Household Hazardous Waste This Weekend

Bring Your Old Paint, Pool Chemicals, Pesticides And More

A free event to collect household hazardous waste will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 19 at Balloon Fiesta Park, located at 5000 Balloon Fiesta Parkway NE.

Residents of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County are encouraged to bring any household hazardous waste that are flammable, corrosive or toxic. This means items that can burn easily, corrode or irritate the skin, or poison humans and animals.

Accepted Items:

  1. Paint
  2. Automotive Oil
  3. Antifreeze
  4. Gasoline
  5. Cleaning Supplies
  6. Finishes and Stains
  7. Aerosols
  8. Pesticides/Herbicides
  9. Poisons
  10. Corrosives/Photo graphics
  11. Batteries of all types
  12. Fertilizers
  13. Pool Chemicals
  14. Fluorescent Light Bulbs
  15. Mercury

Items Not Accepted:

  1. Cylinders
  2. Fire Extinguishers
  3. Appliances (Stoves, Refrigerators, etc.)
  4. Metals
  5. Paper
  6. Needles/Medical Waste
  7. Medications
  8. Computers
  9. Televisions/Stereos/Electronics
  10. Asbestos
  11. Ammunition/Gunpowder/Explosives
  12. Radioactive Materials (including smoke detectors)
