The Santa Fe New Mexican Hires New Editor

Phill Casaus was a former editor at The Albuquerque Tribune.

The Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper has a new editor: Phill Casaus, currently the director of the Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation.

Casaus, a former editor at The Albuquerque Tribune and the Rocky Mountain News, will replace editor Ray Rivera, who is leaving the New Mexican on Sept. 8 to take a job at The Seattle Times, the New Mexican said Wednesday.

The Tribune closed in 2008, and the Rocky Mountain News closed the following year.

Casaus also worked as sports reporter, columnist and assistant sports editor at the Albuquerque Journal from 1978 to 1997. He’ll start at the New Mexican in mid-September.
