ABQ Free Press News Operation Shutters
Venue Remains for Opinion, Analysis
ABQ Free Press has ceased the active dissemination of news but will continue to offer this platform to the public as a venue for informed opinion.
The newspaper ceased print publication on March 15, 2017, and continued as an online-only news source until Sept. 15. A lack of local advertising support was cited by the publishers as the cause of the shutdown.
“We believe ABQ Free Press’ insight into local news was worth preserving as an online archive as long as possible,” said founding editor and co-publisher Dan Vukelich.
Readers who wish to contribute informed and well-reasoned opinion pieces and analyses are welcome to do so by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and putting EDITORIAL SUBMISSION in the subject line. All submissions are subject to editing for style and length.
Readers who wish to follow the coverage of Dennis Domrzalski, veteran journalist and the editor of ABQ Free Press at the time of its shutdown, are welcome to visit ABQReport.com.
